red house design build estimator tim croteau

Red House Welcomes our New Estimator, Tim Croteau

Join us in welcoming our new Estimator, Tim, to team Red House! We are very excited to have Tim filling this important role in our company. Estimating costs for large-scale remodeling projects is no easy task. With Tim’s attention to detail, we will be able to best serve our clients going forward into 2022 and beyond!

Right from your first impression, Tim is friendly, smart, and engaged. He has a background in residential remodeling, commercial projects, and landscape architecture. He graduated from Northeastern with a concentration in Journalism and Public Relations. At school, he met his wife with whom he shares a son and a daughter.

Life Purpose

In his spare time, Tim is a professional soccer coach for elite skill clinics and recreational leagues for boys and girls ages 4-17. His practices feature music, dancing, and a lot of fun. He started coaching with his daughter when she was young and quickly realized he didn’t want to stop.

“I was asked 8 years ago if I had a purpose. At the time I wasn’t sure, but now I know. My purpose is soccer and coaching my kids. That is my legacy. I don’t just train good players, I train good people.”

Tim is a very positive person, a trait he says he inherited from his father. His dad was a General Contractor, so Tim grew up in the industry with construction as a hobby. He later renovated his own homes and the homes of some friends.

“I love construction and the sense of accomplishment it brings seeing something finished at the end of the day.”

First Day at Red House

On his first day at Red House, I sat down with Tim and asked him some questions about his new role.

What made you want to work for RH?

“I wanted to work for a company where I could grow and be a part of a small, tight team. Red House offered that for me.”

What is your opinion of the design-build process?

“I’ve always liked it and I’ve always wanted to get involved with a design-build firm. In design-build, there’s not as much back and forth between separate GC’s and Architects. Questions are answered faster. Problems are solved faster.”

What are you looking forward to most about working here?

I am most interested in being back around high-end residential projects after several years of working commercial jobs. Working with homeowners allows you to have direct conversations with the client and a clear understanding of their needs. That understanding can become diluted when working with lots of people in commercial jobs.
