Hope House

This charming and historic home on the East Side of Providence was thoughtfully reinvigorated by the Red House team as a special showcase project. Step inside and explore this incredible project that allowed our team to tap into some of their design dreams.

The vision

From the start, our team knew they wanted to find the perfect home to showcase their skills. They imagined this project as a way to inspire clients and remind them of the potential in any home no matter its size or age. Through months of extensive research and browsing listings for the perfect home, they stumbled upon this charming green cottage, central to the neighborhood and community that Red House deeply cherishes.

The kitchen

The kitchen is truly a one-of-a-kind design. The functional u-shape layout not only reflects the homes original design, but it makes use of every inch of this smaller kitchen footprint. The blue custom cabinetry in a brilliant gloss accentuates the space, offering plenty of light through reflectivity amongst a darker color palette.

There was no shortage of natural light in the kitchen, so the design team made every effort to preserve and enhance it. Rather than sacrificing wall space to upper cabinetry, the layout features just two full-height cabinets anchoring either end of the kitchen.

To maximize storage without compromising openness, custom brass-and-glass shelving flanks the hood, offering both function and visual elegance. One especially unique solution appears on the right side, where the shelving extends directly over the window. This distinctive design detail allows natural light to continue filtering through, casting a warm, luminous glow across the brass throughout the day.

The dining room

Just beyond the kitchen, a refreshed color palette creates a natural transition while giving the adjacent space its own distinct identity. Soft, faded reds pair beautifully with warm wood tones and textured wallpaper, striking a balance between character and timelessness. Thoughtfully selected furnishings and fixtures—like the curved dining chairs and statement chandelier—bring personality and cohesion to this small yet impactful space.

The living room

Comfortably positioned at the front of the home, the living room strikes a thoughtful balance between comfort and design. This space gave our designers the opportunity to layer in rich patterns, texture, and color, creating a room that feels both inviting and intentionally curated. By pulling together the tones and design details seen throughout the rest of the home, the living room serves as a cohesive extension of the overall aesthetic.

Upstairs

The project largely focused on transforming the first floor of the home, but the second floor still had slight improvements to give the cottage a completed look. The second floor consists of two bedrooms and a bathroom. Each room developed its own personality throughout the design process as you may notice in comparing the two. These rooms were the final touch to this charming and detail focused showcase project.
