Top 10 Kitchen Trends of 2024

2024 has been an incredible year. We are seeing so much individuality breathe it’s way into our clients kitchens as they start to prioritize how they use their spaces. Each family has different needs, and we are seeing a shift from focusing solely on style to a larger focus on how to integrate the colors and materials you want with a kitchen space that will make meal time a breeze. From new colors to hidden charging stations, your kitchen remodel can truly be everything you want and need.

1. All Green Everything

If you’ve admired the lush green kitchens seen in recent design trends, you’re in luck—green remains a steady favorite. Green continues to dominate the design scene across various surfaces, including cabinets and tiles. Making its way around the world, the inclusion of green in design has proven itself, and it’s here to stay. Bold colors can be a perfect way to make your kitchen feel more unique and inviting.

2. Stained Wood Cabinets

The era of all-white kitchens is fading as homeowners gravitate towards the warmth and character of stained wood. We’ve observed a return to wood finishes, both on select cabinetry features and entire cabinet runs. Although painted cabinets can be less expensive, they don’t age as gracefully. Natural wood species—such as white oak, walnut, and alder—add depth and comfort to the kitchen. These woods pair well with elements like beams and water-resistant wood floors, creating an intimate, cozy atmosphere.

3. Sinks That Work Harder

As kitchen tasks evolve, so do sinks. Our team praises workstation sinks, which incorporate designated areas for rinsing produce, chopping, and even drying dishes. This multifunctional approach reduces mess and streamlines meal prep by transforming the sink into a versatile workstation.

4. Induction Cooktops

With environmental regulations influencing the move away from gas, induction cooktops have stepped into the spotlight. These cooktops are favored for their rapid heating, swift cooling, and sleek integration—some are even concealed beneath the countertop for a seamless look. Induction offers precise temperature control and enhanced safety, appealing to families and serious home cooks alike.

5. Minimal Backsplashes

Extending your tile material behind the cooking area is especially helpful. Grease and food splatters pose much less of a cleaning issue on a solid surface.

To simplify cleaning, homeowners are leaning towards minimal backsplashes. Extending countertop materials up the wall not only reduces grout lines and scrubbing time, but also creates a clean, continuous surface that showcases the beauty of the chosen material.

6. More Functional Islands

Kitchens are the heart of the home, and islands are the heart of the kitchen. We see more clients investing in versatile islands equipped with workstation sinks, ample storage, and additional seating. We are beginning to see a trend towards wrap-around seating and larger footprints, sometimes replacing the need for a separate dining table altogether.

7. Built-in and Hidden Kitchen Tools

The shift toward closed storage is making appliance garages and hidden solutions more sought-after. We expect the trend of integrated drawers, hidden step stools, charging drawers, and pet feeding stations become even more popular in the years to come. The goal: maximize every inch and keep clutter off countertops.

8. Dedicated Beverage Stations

Beverage stations have become kitchen must-haves. As people spend more time at home, they’re prioritizing coffee bars, cocktail nooks, and convenient beverage fridges. We’ve noticed a shift in the popularity of crafting coffee masterpieces at home, learning mixology, and our shared loved of super-powered smoothies. So naturally, our clients desire dedicated spaces for these gourmet excursions. With a space equipped with all our your beverage gadgets, messes and clutter in your other cooking spaces are a thing of the past. Plus, we can’t deny that having such a space truly makes the process more enjoyable.

9. Layered Lighting

Proper lighting enhances every kitchen activity, from cooking to socializing. Designers are starting to focus on layered lighting: pendants and sconces for ambiance, flush mounts in lieu of recessed lighting for a softer glow, and even interior cabinet lighting for easy access. Mixing different types of fixtures creates warmth and comfort, turning the kitchen into a welcoming gathering space.

10. Decorative Range Hoods

It’s a thing of the past that your range hood has to be some boring, stainless steel design! Adding a decorative range hood that either boasts a colorful tile pattern, adds a pop of color in a different wood stain, or adds history through upcycled parts of your home. Decorative range hoods have become the kitchen’s next go-to statement piece. With thousands of creative ideas and designs,  your options are truly endless!
